    以上文字是美国南北战争爆发前一个有钱的庄园主家里发生的日常黑人奶妈与小主人间发生的事，画面感很强，看起来相当真实，甚至很东方化，很象地球东方中国的长辈在生活已经好起来的今天对于晚辈的日常教育。从这段文字还可以看出，黑人奶妈在这个家里的地位相当高，而且她也是有偏爱的，相对于Scarlett的meimei们，她更爱Scarlett，她越爱谁，对谁管教得越严。Scarlett的母亲是法国贵族后裔，对礼貌、礼仪教育非常重视。但Scarlett的天性决定了她的叛逆，而Scarlett的也是会装模作样的天性决定了Scarlett在日常生活里对于礼仪、习俗的阳奉阴违。

    另外，从文中还看出，美国南北战争爆发前的南方，富人公子、小姐之间互相串门玩，到了吃饭时间留吃饭是一个礼貌方面的要求。
